Today, the legal profession is more diverse than ever. This increased Diversity offers new opportunities for talented professionalsdiversity offers new opportunities for ALI CLE to recruit previously undiscovered, talented people who should have the chance to participate as continuing legal education leaders, instructors, and authors. Diversity in all its forms–including but not limited to age, gender, race, ethnicity, orientation, expertise, geographic location, and type and size of practice–furthers ALI CLE’s mission to offer excellent CLE. Inclusion also serves ALI CLE’s customers by enriching and expanding the different perspectives offered in ALI CLE’s courses and publications and by providing fresh ideas to lawyers representing an increasingly diverse pool of clients.

Outreach Initiatives

  • Involve course chairs in making diversity an important part of the selection process for course faculties
  • Encourage qualified lawyers from underrepresented groups to serve as course chairs
  • Continue to develop resources for identifying qualified lawyers from under-represented groups as faculty
  • Create opportunities for talented and experienced associates or their equivalents from underrepresented groups to become involved in courses
  • Continuing outreach efforts to recruit talented lawyers from underrepresented groups as periodicals authors
  • Collaborating with diverse membership organizations to raise awareness of our offerings
